Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

Film and moving image

All moving images must be presented in Quick-time format and be compressed to normal size.

Moving image work must be supplied on CD format and should be of a size easily copied to a standard laptop. Large files or other formats may be rejected and not viewed.

DVD’s may be submitted but should be compatible with a Computer DVD system. Data files should be on CD and not on DVD.

VHS tapes may be submitted as backup or as a main source if required.

Please make sure your entry can play on either Mac or PC and is formatted and compressed correctly. Try it out on someone else’s computer to see if it reads before you send it in. Entries that do not run are disqualified.

Films can be anything from animatics to finished work.

All films and any moving image work must be accompanied by a script.

If the film has no words you must still provide a written ‘script’ of the action.

You must also supply a storyboard A3 size of the action. This should be ‘drawn’ prior to the film/moving image being made and should not be post produced storyboards.

Print and other design work

Print executions need to be at least roughs or scamps of ideas. Final layouts will be accepted but must be no larger than A3 or smaller than A4.

Stage layouts or model drawings must be A3 or A4 size.

Web and Games

Web sites cannot be accessed in any way at the judging so all web design must be on CD.

PowerPoint

PowerPoint presentations will be considered if they are on CD. Better still do this as hard copy layout for the judges to read individually with the rest of your work.

Other requirements

You must also provide a 200 word abstract to explain your thinking about how and why this will work for PUK (form attached). If you have any problems such as dyslexia you will find a tick box on the Abstract form. Tutors must also check this.

You must also provide a 50 word profile for yourself for a press release in case you win. Information that must be included in this is your name, the course you are on, why you chose this course, your interests, what you thought about the competition and what you would like to do when you leave college.

You must also supply sketchbooks and research as additional backup material to show your working process but are not essential. Sketchbooks and mood boards should be submitted and will add to your chances of winning.

Labeling Work

Every single piece of work must be clearly labeled. Photocopy the entry form and attach it to your CD/DVD case and label the CD/DVD case and disc clearly with your name and college. Paste the entry form on the back of every piece of Artwork you send in including sketchbooks/notebooks. Entry forms are part of this document.

We receive a lot of entries and if your work is not clearly labeled it may not be judged properly.
