2005 Promax UK conference brochure entry:
Terry Yetton has had an unusual and varied career. In television he has been a graphic designer, a producer, director and Creative Director. His roots are in Fine Art, but he began his career as a freelance light-show artist and a teacher in London.
In 1969 he joined BBC Graphics and worked on various technology breakthroughs, including the first moving chromakey on film and the first computer graphics ever transmitted. He spent the following 19 years working on promotions for the Eastenders launch, Live Aid launch and co-ordinating international presentations for major sporting events and promotional campaigns.
In 1987 he moved to Anglia Television as Head of Promotion. Under his creative direction and commissioning, the development of the on-air look led to a number of Promax and BDA Awards.
In 1995 he left Anglia to form Creative Services Consultancy, and has worked on the Challenge TV launch, The Biography Channel, and re-branded the History Channel. He has since worked as a consultant with various broadcasters including ITV, Turner networks, Sky and TV4.
For 10 years he sat on the Board of Promax UK. In 1992, he held the Seminar Chair for 2 years then the Sponsorship Chair, and introduced an exhibition area into the Conference, achieving a healthy profit for the organisation.
In 1996 he created the Bursary Foundation for Promax UK to encourage student interest in Television Promotion and Marketing. He is also a founder member and trainer on the Promax Foundation Course and is currently writing a book on TV promotion in the UK.
